What the terms say about training and review

AI chat privacy depends on the purpose for which data is used, not only on whether a chat appears public. Delivering a reply, remembering information, improving a model, checking flagged content and sending marketing are different activities. A setting that changes one purpose may leave the others unchanged. “Is ai chat private” is therefore too broad unless you specify who can access what and for which purpose.

Candy’s current notice describes model development and preparation of training datasets, including human review of de-identified interactions. Its terms also discuss review of flagged material. Replika’s notice distinguishes internal safety-model work from third-party model training. Kindroid’s memory controls concern remembering and retrieving conversation details; they should not be renamed as a general training opt-out without policy support.

Settings you can change

Start in the account’s privacy and data area, then read the help article matching your platform. Character AI’s web help places deletion at Profile, Profile Settings, Account, Manage Account & Data, Delete Account. Its export route uses the same area and Export Data. The mobile labels differ, so a web path should not be presented as a universal sequence. Account deletion is described as permanent.

Replika’s policy identifies account settings as the deletion route. Candy’s terms locate subscription details under My Profile / Settings and cancellation under Settings / Unsubscribe. That cancels renewal; it is not an account-deletion or training switch. For Janitor, SpicyChat and Muah, the precise current opt-out and deletion routes remain unconfirmed. Missing instructions should not become guessed menu paths.

For any service, read what the final confirmation says before changing a control. Turning off marketing messages differs from removing a transcript. Deleting a chat differs from deleting an account. If you want to delete ai chat history, first identify whether the control removes the conversation from view, requests server-side deletion or simply starts a new context. What you cannot switch off

You cannot infer the removal of past processing from a switch that affects future use. Data already anonymised, information held for security and legally retained transaction records can follow different rules. The exact exceptions must come from the relevant notice; an editor should not promise immediate deletion of every copy or invent a retention deadline.

Likewise, encryption in transit does not establish that no authorised reviewer can access flagged content. A marketing opt-out does not establish a training opt-out. A model-memory setting does not necessarily delete the saved transcript. Each control should be described using its documented function rather than a stronger privacy claim that readers might prefer.

The remaining choice is what you submit in the first place. Keep account credentials, payment information and other people’s personal data out of conversations. Use fictional adult characters only for any generated media; sexual real-person imagery and edits of real photographs are prohibited within this guide. For questions about a particular stored record, use the operator’s official data-request channel. What this means for you

Change one setting at a time and read what the confirmation says it did. Turning off marketing, deleting a chat and deleting your account are three different actions, and only the app’s own notice tells you which data each one covers.
